Fritz
by Tom Herbst

Fritz is an interesting asymmetric reflector suitable for both deeply saturated and lighter stones. The jagged, angular reflections really flash and shift as the stone is rocked

The name comes from the resemblance of the reflectance pattern to an old TV "on the fritz." Changing the pavillion and crown angles really changes the visual impression, and it was good to see the GemRay predictions come true.

Fritz is a straightforward design, and is appropriate to all skill levels. BOG-optimized for ISO and tilt.

At right is a 7 mm 1.9 carat Fritz cut in Brazilian seafoam tourmaline.
